Both passings that have received the media attention they deserved. However, one untimely and surprising passing that has quickly been forgotten by the general public is that of celebrity chef Lentswe Bhengu-Mafoko. On Wednesday, 1 March 2023, reports of his passing were shared as reported at the time:
TV personality and chef Lentswe Bhengu has passed away. His family released a statement on Tuesday morning, 01 February announcing his passing.

"It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the untimely passing of our beloved son and brother, Lentswe Bhengu-Mafoko fondly known to the media and his culinary family as Chef Lentswe," read part of the statement.
According to the family's statement, Lentswe succumbed to a short illness on Tuesday evening at the Sandton Medi-Clinic.
Following his passing, it was revealed that Chef Lentse was in a relationship with none other than leading male vocalist and soulful artist Langa Mavuso. As such, it seems that while the rest of the country has moved on, Langa is still mourning the passing of his late lover.
Langa Mavuso still mourning Chef Lentswe
It has been over six weeks since the world lost Chef Lentswe, and while the rest of the country has moved on from the matter, Langa Mavuso is still mourning his passing. As such, the Sunday Blues hitmaker took to Twitter recently to affirm that he is still hurting and reeling from the loss.
Moreover, it seems that Langa will have some time to process his grief before returning to the stage. This is as he took to Instagram to confirm that his first public singing appearance following grieving Chef Lentswe is only going to take place on Friday, 5 May 2023, for a one-night-only intimate music session where the VIP attendees will get to meet and greet the musician during a three-course dinner with the singer-songwriter.
During Chef Lentswe’s memorial service, Langa Mavuso had shared a touching eulogy dedicated to his late love. In part, he shared a look into their seemingly complicated relationship as he stated:
“Regardless of the strain, we always knew we loved each other, and it was aptly said in every text, which ended with the words ‘Love first, Love always.’ But today, I must find new ways to embody that love and find a new place to share my heart. He is the smile that captured us all. And his laughter filled every room. I don’t know how to begin to say goodbye when there is still so much love to give.”
