AFROPUNK Johannesburg is coming back for their 3rd year in a row this December. The global music festival is gathering place for the world-wide community that is the engine of the global Black experience. The festival has expanded around the world in Paris, Atlanta, Brooklyn and right here in Johannesburg.
AFROPUNK fans were left disappointed back in 2017 when Solange was announced as a headliner but soon pulled out of the AFROPUNK festival set to take place in Johannesburg.
A few days leading up to the festival Solange opened up about struggling with an autonomic disorder that made her feel terrible saying:
A few days leading up to the festival Solange opened up about struggling with an autonomic disorder that made her feel terrible saying:
"It's important to me for the people in South Africa, a place that has tremendous meaning to me and that has given me SO SO MUCH, to know why I won’t be performing at Afropunk this NYE. The past five months I have been quietly treating, and working through an Autonomic Disorder,”
Although sad and disappointed, her fans knew why she had to pull out of performing at the show.
Now, in good news, it has been confirmed that Solange alongside other superstars such as the likes of Miguel and Masego will indeed be performing at this year's festival.
However, instead of excitement, some fans of the festival have decided to approach the news of Solange's performance on our shores with precaution.
But the lineup doesn't stop there! Solange and Miguel will be joined by fellow visiting headliners Goldlink, Rico Nasty and NAO. The local lineup of artists is just as lit as the likes of Sho Madjozi, Busiswa, Distruction Boyz, Zoe Modiga and Morena Leraba, will be heating the stage with their performances as well.
But we seriously doubt Solange would disappoint her South African fans twice in a row. Have faith guys, Solange will perform at AFROPUNK this year.
