As we countdown to the release of AKA’s album Mass Country, fans have been asking themselves what could be the meaning of this interesting title.
Well, we think we might have the answer.
In one of his last interviews, The Supamega sat down with Hip Hop veteran Slikour to chat about the forthcoming album.
The Meaning Behind Mass Country
“I’m taking more time with the sound and just trying to come up with something new. I call it Mass Country because I wanted to touch on Mass Country like Maskandi. That’s kind of like the play on it,” AKA told Slikour.

‘It’s also to a nod on like there is also going to be traditional sounds on there. But also laced with pop and a bit of Kwaito influence. Hip Hop, you know how it goes. I’m going to put that all in the pot. And we are going to come up with something magic.”
Following the news of AKA’s passing, Slikour took to social media to remember the Supamega.
Slikour commended AKA on pushing the culture, at his own expense sometimes.
“You pushed the culture sometimes at your own expense, sanity and happiness but like a Super Mega you were unapologetic whether it was an extreme loss or win….. you’d make sure we feel your wins though and then remind us how culture will benefit and in hindsight you brought confidence to different aspects of the game that business wouldn’t bank on.”

Before his funeral, his family revealed that they would release and market AKA’s album as he had wished.

“The team was extremely blessed to work so closely on this project with Kiernan. We spent a lot of time mapping out the rollout and creating all the content we have under his direction.”

And we were blessed that he got the opportunity to map out his entire rollout and approve all the elements so what will be coming out will be per his direction and vision. We thank the Forbes family for their in the entire team on his project.”
