On Saturday, 18 February 2023, might have been the official burial of rapper and Hip-Hop legend Kiernan Jarryd "AKA” Forbes. This was after he and his friend and former manager Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane were assassinated on the late hours of Friday, 10 February 2023.

However, while the country has lost the rapper forever, his music will continue to live throughout the years. More so as it was confirmed that just a week ahead of his untimely passing, the rapper had concluded executive-producing his fifth solo studio album titled Mass Country.
Nadia Nakai, Blxckie & Emtee included in AKA’s Mass Country
Following his burial, record label SONY MUSIC has confirmed that despite the passing of AKA, the album release of Mass Country would be released as scheduled. This is as the album was scheduled for a Friday, 24 February release date.
As such, as the countdown to day continues to whine down, more information on the album’s release is being shared. Firstly, like the meaning behind the title of the album, which was reported as:

“I’m taking more time with the sound and just trying to come up with something new. I call it Mass Country because I wanted to touch on Mass Country like Maskandi. That’s kind of like the play on it,” AKA told Slikour.

‘It’s also to a nod on like there is also going to be traditional sounds on there. But also laced with pop and a bit of Kwaito influence. Hip Hop, you know how it goes. I’m going to put that all in the pot. And we are going to come up with something magic.”
Following sharing the meaning behind the title of the album, what has been subsequently shared is the official tracklist of the upcoming album. The album is set to be a 13-track album, which has a bonus track making the total number of tracks 14.
Already released lead singles from the album including the debut single from the album Lemon (Lemonade), featuring Nasty C which has already gone gold. Second to that release was Paradise, featuring Musa Keys and Nigeria’s Gaykie. The last official lead single released ahead of the album was Prada, which featured long-time collaborator Khuli Chana.
Now with the official tracklist revealed, there are first-time collaborators including Blxckie who has a double feature on tracks including on Ease, also featuring Yanga Chief, and Dangerous, which will also mark his first collaborative single with girlfriend Nadia Nakai.
Thato Saul is also a first-time collaborator as he is on the track Mbuzi (Freestyle), Emtee finally got to feature on an AKA track after working with the rapper on his Roll Up (Remix) as he is featured on the track Crown with Manana. Sjava also got to finally work and release a track with AKA on the track Sponono, also including 031 Choppa and S.O.N.
