News just in that suggest that the slain rapper Kiernan 'AKA' Forbes will not be honored with a provincial funded funeral. This comes after the announcement made earlier by Gauteng Premier, Panyaza Lesufi.
Ahead of his funeral on Saturday, 18th February, 2023, an announce has been made that AKA will not be getting a state funded funeral. Usually creatives of his caliber are honored with provincial and or state funded funerals, as they are also part of numerous government campaigns within their cities.
Reportedly, by Linda Mnisi from Newzroom Afrika, the Gauteng premier's office will continue to extend other services and aspects of supports during his funeral but to honor AKA with a state funeral.
"JUST IN: AKA will not be getting a state-assisted funeral. Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi says they didn't succeed in getting the President to declare a Provincial Official Funeral for slain rapper #AKA but will continue supporting the family." wrote Linda Mnisi

"He will be buried in a secluded venue with leaders and heroes and heroines of our society but we will also provide security support and also ensure that the feel feel our support. We felt that a person of his international statue, there must be some sort of honor. And we want to clarify, it is not a financial contribution but it is an honor of draping the coffin and making sure the flag is flied at half mast and making sure that his funeral becomes a befitting funeral" said Panyaza Lesufi
In a turn of events, President Cyril Ramaphosa is now catching smokes as tweeps are ore convinced that he denied AKA's state funeral on purpose.
