Anele Mdoda might be well known and respected as a television and radio broadcaster. But a fairly unknown detail about the broadcasting veteran is the fact that she is also a formidable executive producer. From executive producing her first roundtable talk show Tongue in Cheek back in 2014.

Her co-owned production company Rose and Oaks Media has been behind other shows including the likes of the Netflix film Ludik. The company is co-owned with her fellow Anele and the Club co-host Frankie Du Toit and Paul Buys.
Their latest feat was getting the licensing rights to bring the hit American show The Masked Singers to South Africa. A fact which Anele cleared via Twitter when the debate over the IP licensing in South Africa was greenlit.

Earlier in the week it was announced that The Masked Singers is set to have its South African version premiering soon on our television screens. The premise will remain the same as it will consist of four detectives including Somizi Mhlongo, J’Something, Skhumba and Sithelo Shozi attempting to discover the identity of the ZAlebs under the different masks who are singing on the show.
Somizi being a part of the show was met with mixed reactions as reported:

While scores of people are excited about The Masked Singers singing show and the new detectives' panel. It has become apparent that not everyone shares similar sentiments about media personality, Somizi Mhlongo.
Evidently, a number of people and tweeps at large are at their wit's end with Mhlongo on their TV screens. Taking to Twitter, tweeps have collectively joined hands to call out and slam Mhlongo for booking The Masked Singers show.
In light of the promotional trial which also confirmed that comedian and host Mpho Popps will be the host of the show.
There was a discussion of the IP licensing rights and the manner they were obtained. This is as one tweep suggested that they were slighted by the commissioning editor when they proposed the show back in 2022. However, Anele was not having it as she took to Twitter to make it clear that she got the rights from Fremantle back in 2019 to have the show have its South African version.
Currently, there has not been an official premiere date for the show. However, there is excitement already as to which ZAlebs will be joining the show as the contestants looking to win the crown during the season premiere of the popular show.
