Ayanda who played the character of Chumani Langa, joined the show in 2019 and he captivated viewers with his acting prowess. He has since become a household name with a legion of fans, thanks to The Scandal, but it appears he is now ready to take on a new role.
According to entertainment commentator Phil Mphela, he has joined Mzansi Magic's top soapie Gomora, and he plays the character of Sizwe who is Gugu's love interest. Daweti made a short stint on the show during its second season, and it seems the showrunners were left in awe of his craft.
"Daweti is officially off the e-tv show and joins Gomora after a short stint as Gugu's love interest. He joins the world of crime and gangsterism under the wing of notorious criminal Qhoqhoqho," reported Mphela.
In 2021 his on-screen sister Sivenathi Mabuya who was played by Xolile Langa left the show. She took to her Instagram account to pen a heartfelt note that confirmed her exit.
In 2021 his on-screen sister Sivenathi Mabuya who was played by Xolile Langa left the show. She took to her Instagram account to pen a heartfelt note that confirmed her exit.
"To exit the very same way she came into our lives was homage to the true nature of her being… putting family first. That’s what we had in common; the love of family. I can say so much about Xoli… but what will always stand out is her growth. From being Xolile Langa, to Xolile Langa Mayiza, to finally Xolile Langa-Medupe. And what a journey that was,"
The actress went on to thank the production for giving her the role and said she grew tremendously during the 4 years playing Xolile.
“This is not goodbye, this is till we meet again. I mean it’s @officialetvscandal after all. Thank you for the love, support and recognition. These past 4years have been magical… it was an absolute honour to play this character and to be apart of many family’s lives/homes in this country," she wrote.
Their on-screen mother Lusanda Mbane conniving and selfless Boniswa Langa, also left the show in 2021 as well. In a statement sent to TshisaLive, the channel confirmed that Lusanda is indeed leaving the show.
“What an honour! What a journey! What a ride! Five years ago I took on this warm, mother-natural queen Boniswa Langa, who cared about nothing else but the wellbeing of her family. Little did I know she would evolve into the cold, calculated villain our audiences have come to love to hate,” says Lusanda in the statement.
“It has always been important to me to walk away while I am still on top. I knew in my heart the day I walked into Scandal! studios for the first time in June 2016 that Boniswa would be a five-year journey. It has come to pass.
