Of course the Elamont' hitmaker's pregnancy would trend, but what had many people taken aback was the fact that she was seen sipping on some champagne in her pregnant state. The video had the Twitter streets divided, with some suspecting that she is truly pregnant and others saying maybe she wasn't because she was consuming alcohol.
The musician and her husband, Kwaito-turned-Gqom musician Mampintsha, then surprised the masses in April when they got married in a beautiful, star-studded traditional wedding. Taking to her Instagram account, the Idandokazi singer thanked everyone who showed her support and revealed that she had taken Mampintsha’s surname, which is Maphumulo.
“Ngiyabonga kubo bonke abaphumelelile ngiyofasa ofindo lika sofa silahlane😍❤️Sengingasho kugcwale umlomo ngingu maSimelane ogane Ka Maphumulo.”
While the couple should have been in their honeymoon phase, drama ensued when Mampintsha's mother, Zama Gumede, dragged the Simelane family and came for them one by one in a video that went viral on social media. Her main target was, of course, Babes Wodumo, who she loathes and accuses of being rude. Calling her derogatory names such as b**ch, she also accused her of faking her pregnancy.
For the sake of peace, Babes released a statement saying she choses to love Gumede from a distance. However, she changed her mind shortly after and revealed that she had decided to teach her mother-in-law a lesson by showing her exactly who she really is.
The West Ink first-lady also addressed the fake pregnancy rumours by saying,“I am pregnant, whether she likes it or not. If she has problems with it, she must deal with it. I am hurt about this. I know most of the things she says when she is drunk should not be taken seriously, but this time she has gone too far. I am going to press charges against her. I want her to clear my name.”
A few days later, Briefly News reported that Gumede wishes to make amends with Babes Wodumo as she wants to be in her unborn grandchild's life.
It seems she might just enjoy being a grandmother, as Babes Wodumo is indeed pregnant and she is now proudly showing off her baby bump for all to see. The Wololo hitmaker was on the lineup of DBN Gogo’s “Kwa Gogo’s” birthday celebrations at Soweto's favourite hangout Zone6, alongside artists such as Black Motion and Riky Rick, when she was seen partying up a storm.
The video, which was shared by DBN Gogo on her Instagram stories, shows Babes dancing with the Khuza Gogo hitmaker while she cradles her stomach and rubs it.
