This past weekend belonged to Gqom Queen Babes Wodumo and Mampinstha Shimora. The couple got married traditionally in their hometown of Durban.
The timelines were filled with snaps of the couple looking all boo’d up in traditional bridal attire. Zalebs who were in attendance included DJ Tira and DJ Bongz. They too looked dapper.

Earlier today, Babes took to social media to thank everyone who showed her support and revealed that she is now taken Mampintsha’s surname of Maphumolo.
“Ngiyabonga kubo bonke abaphumelelile ngiyofasa ofindo lika sofa silahlane😍❤️Sengingasho kugcwale umlomo ngingu maSimelane ogane Ka Maphumulo.”
It was revealed last week that the lobola negotiations were successful and out of the way, as everyone looked forward to the wedding. Mampintsha proposed to Babes’ back in October 2020 and she happily said yes! It was during an interview on Gagasi FM.
While celebrating her 27th birthday last week at Eyadini Lounge, many of her fans could not help but notice the visible bump in her tummy and this led many to believe that she is pregnant with her first child. Babes, however, did not confirm nor deny these rumours.
There’s a video making the rounds on social media from an elderly woman claiming to be Mampinstha’s mother who, in the recording, does not approve of the union and claims that she was not invited to the ceremony. The woman also claimed that Babes Wodumo is faking her pregnancy.
The huge age gap between the newlyweds has been of concern to many and in Babes’ defence, it’s not unusual for a woman to get married to a man who’s about 10 years older. We’ve seen it happen many times.
Chatting to Mac G on Podcast N Chill earlier in the year the star opened up about how she and husband Mampinstha met. “I met Mampintsha when I was still a video vixen. I was 16/17 years old. He’d always call me to check up on me and I ended up catching feelings.”
She also hinted that their wedding will be coming to Showmax soon. “We will be surprising you guys soon - our wedding special will be on Showmax,” she said.
So far there hasn’t been any confirmation from the South African streaming platform on whether or not they’ll be airing Babes and Mampinstha’s wedding.
