Our local music industry is definitely one of the most successful in Africa, and is set to boom even more now that Amapiano has become a global staple. And one criminally underrated genre globally is Afrohouse, yet we excel at it.

But it would not have been possible to put Mzansi on the map if it weren't for out talented DJs, who often also double as exemplary music producers. Those who have made it in this industry regularly tour the world with their music, and they get paid a handsome sum to do it.

These are the highest paid DJs as of 2021.

Black Coffee

Of course Black Coffee comes first on this list. After all, he is the undisputed king of the decks in the country. He is actually Africa's third richest musician; richest if we're only counting those who live on the continent.

In 2020, Somizi Mhlongo revealed that the DJ charges $100,000 to play a set at a gig, and if you've been fortunate enough to attend his gigs, you know he is worth every penny. Seriously, if you get a chance to, please consider attending his performance.
