The day has finally arrived when we get to see Bonang Matheba do what she does best, hosting a live award show for all of Africa to see. The multi-award-winning media personality and businesswoman is in Lagos currently hosting the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards 2022 (AMVCAs) alongside Nigerian producer, television and radio presenter extraordinaire IK.

Almost two weeks ago, the Twitter streets went crazy when Bonang announced to her many social media followers and fans that she would be hosting the award shows this year, her second live hosting gig since her hiatus in the local media industry following her move to New York last year. The television presenter shared in an Instagram post, “I love a good slay. Excited to be hosting the AMVCAs alongside Ik Osakioduwa live from Lagos, Nigeria on the 14th of May. See you there.”
She has over her 15-year-long career built a strong name for herself in television, radio and live show hosting with her stardom shining so bright beyond South African borders across Africa and other parts of the world.

Bonang took to Twitter earlier today ahead of the live show to share that she is nervous and urged her followers to tune in. “Guys… I’m so nervous!!! LOL, Please join us, it’s gonna be a great show,” she said enthusiastically. Right after that tweet, she disrupted the timeline in all the perfect ways with a carousel of pictures of the first look she wore for the show, a beautiful pink sequenced gown with feathers, a custom design by the Nigerian fashion brand Sheye Oladejo and styled by the stylist to the stars Dahmola.

Bonang, although admittedly nervous, is not a stranger to Nigerian pop culture. The star is not only friends with media and entertainment culture heavyweights in Nigeria such as the likes of musician Tiwa Savage, media personality and her chosen twin Toke Makinwa, but has also hosted a show in Lagos and visits the country religiously too. The Africa Magic Channel also tweeted a photo of Bonang and her co-host IK reading their scripts and preparing for the show earlier today. “The Queen B Bonang and Kind of the mic IK Osakioduwa are getting ready to give it to you as e dey hot.”
Industry mates and fans of the SAFTA award-winning tv presenter have since started sharing their love and support on Social Media, even Naija tweeps have jumped in on Bonang’s fandom after her AMVCA outfit.

A user named Damilola tweeted responding to the outfit Queen B wore, “Bonang Matheba, there are some people that are made for fashion, they have no competition, and Bonang is one of their leaders. This outfit is giving me everything. Giving powerful, sophisticated, beautiful and sexy woman. This is a look.”

Another user wrote on Twitter, “I have missed you on live TV, I am really looking forward to seeing you tomorrow.”

The AMVCAs 2022 will be broadcasted live on Africa Magic, DStv channel 153 in South Africa at 8 PM.
