Cassper Nyovest his close friend along with other celebrities, reacted to his untimely death and paid tributes.
“My beautiful brother, Ntja ya Kota!!! You broke my heart. I won’t lie, ha ke shapo. You had big big plans!!!” he wrote on Instagram.
On his Facebook page, he said, "Sometimes you called me Diddy, sometimes you called me Kanye. I still don’t know which one I prefer but I know one thing for sure, the bond we shared was special.
"You were always there for me and I was always there for you. I really can’t take the pain and I pray for healing, acceptance and understanding. Pelo yaka e botloko SumB. ANEVA JO!"
Their relationship stood the test of time. They were alleged to have been in loggerheads over royalties for their 2 singles 'Tseya Ukwe' and 'Remote Control.' City Press reported that the court ruled in favour of DJ Sumbody and he obtained a court order instructing Cassper Nyovest to pay him R147K in royalties. This is for their 2018 collaboration, Remote Control which apparently struck a deal with Samsung. It was first reported that DJ Sumbody wants Cassper to pay R500K for the songs.
Casper Nyovest addressed this on Twitter: "The lies don't stop!!! Lmao... wtf man ?? Does my name sell that many papers ? That's the only that would make sense cause wow. Week in, week out, Cassper what what Cassper. What, y'all write any fucking thing as long is my name is there!!! La bora le marete lotlhe entlek!! Almal!!!" Cassper said at the time.
Sumbody's side of the story via his spokesperson Palesa Dwaba of Tailormade Legal Solutions in a statement confirmed the lawsuit.
“This will also be duly chased down as the other side has reneged on a lot of the good faith agreements reached with them. The matter was withdrawn from the roll a day before going to trial, owing to a request from Cassper’s side that a negotiated settlement be reached so he would not lose his Samsung endorsement. Once this was agreed to, his management signed the settlement agreement and then went on to ignore and violate it shortly thereafter,” the statement reads as per the publication.
