The musician's passing comes as Mzansi is still mourning the passing of Metro FM and Daily Thetha anchor Pearl Shongwe. The TV host was found dead in her Polo Fields home last week.
Shongwe was laid to rest on Saturday at the Welfare Centre, Diepkloof Zone1, in Soweto. Her sister Nonhlahla Shongwe paid an emotional tribute to her.
Nonhlanhla said she was struggling to say her final goodbye to her sister “I know I’m not ready to say goodbye, so I can’t say goodbye. This for me, is until we meet again. Everyone calls her mamkhulu, there’s a lot I want to tell you about u Thumbu. It was very evident since she was young that she was going to be a brighter star. We taught, we loved, we cried. I just want you to know that you mean the world to us.”
Metro FM presenter and DJ Mo Flava also paid tribute Shongwe and shared how she impacted his life.
“She's done so much for me in my career ... As much as she was a star ... she was a star because she was talented. But she was also a star because she was able to bring a shine to your life. She helped me become better at what I do. Whether she was my manager at some point as a DJ, a co-host on a radio show, or news. She helped me shine. She had an incredible impact on my life,” he said.
