Sizwe Dhlomo Set To Take Over Dineo Radio Slot

Kaya959 continues to affirm its support for the veteran broadcaster.

Dineo Ranaka missed her radio slot on Kaya959 with Sol Phenduka. At the time, the matter was not addressed. However, when Dineo took to Instagram with her cry for help, it immediately resulted in the public, her family, friends and industry peers pouring love into her via social media.

Taking to Instagram recently, Dineo set off the alarms as she took to the app to share how she has been battling with suicidal thoughts of late. In a series of posts, she shared that:

I completely understand souls/spirits/ people that commit suicide. I get it. I get them. Because I’m trying my best not to commit suicide. My mind is so loud of late and life is f*cking hard. *crying emoji* So f*cking hard and I’m trying my best, but it seems my best is not hard enough.

Her sister, Manaka was the first to heed Dineo’s call on social media as she took to the comments to send her message of support. As reported: 

Dineo’s older sister Manaka Ranaka thanked everyone for the messages of support and shared that the family is with Dineo right now.

“Family is with her right now and we are trying to get her all the help she will need moving forward. She is in a very dark place right now and we are trying to get her to see the light again. Thank you guys…”

More than just her family, friends and industry peers, Kaya959 also made it clear that they stand in support with Dineo and will be giving her the time she needs to come to terms with her current mental state. 

As such, they have taken steps to ensure that Dineo has time to come to terms with whatever she is currently battling. 

Sizwe Dhlomo set to take over Dineo’s radio slot

In the official statement shared by Metro FM, it had stated that: 

Kaya 959 wishes Breakfast show host, Dineo Ranaka much strength as she finds her way through a difficult time. Dineo wasn’t on air this morning after openly sharing her struggles on social media. 

“The Kaya 959 family is keeping Dineo in their hearts, and we wish her healing,” says Kaya MD, Colleen Louw. “We also ask for privacy as Dineo gets through this difficult time,” added Louw.
As such, Kaya has announced the line-up shakeup as they give Dineo the time she needs to come to terms with whatever she is battling currently. The statement made sure to assert that this was only temporary until Dineo recovers. 

Hence, the statement announced that the lineup from Wednesday, 24 May 2023 will look like: 

Sizwe Dhlomo will now stand in on 959 Breakfast from 06h00 – 09h00 every weekday morning. Sizwe will be joined by Sol Phenduka on traffic, as well as the news and sports team.  

Thomas Msengana and Skhumba Hlophe fill in on Afternoon Drive from 15h00 – 18h00.
