The singer has taken to Instagram to share an update on her progress. Lira shared a montage of clips from before and after she suffered a stroke.
The clips show her enjoying herself while taking walks in Germany, in the hospital after the stroke, and traveling home from Germany and making progress.
She has opened up about how she suffered a stroke in Germany before her performance the first time. According to the singer's lengthy post, she was walking and sightseeing when she felt the sensation for about 15 minutes.
"Today marks a year since I had a stroke. I was so happy to be in Germany š©šŖ, it had been 3 years since I traveled overseas due to covid and I had traveled alone to Frankfurt, the band was coming from Sweden. I arrived two days before my performance. I walked around taking in the sights and scenes and the people. I had seen a poster with the @nilslandgrenfunkunit featuring Moses and myself. I even saw the venue where we wouldāve performed. I spent the whole afternoon walking," she wrote.
The Feel Me Good hitmaker says she was not aware of what was happening to her, but she kept walking and arrived at a restaurant nearby. However, she couldn't articulate herself properly when the restaurant staff tried communicating with her.
When she realized she couldn't communicate, she broke down and returned to her hotel, which took her two hours to locate.
"At about 4:15 pm I had a stroke, the sensation lasted about 15 minutes. I had no idea what was happening, so I kept walking and nobody could see that I had a stroke because I was walking normally. I walked into a restaurant but I couldnāt talk - I moved my mouth but words couldnāt come out. When I realized this, I just broke down. The staff at the restaurant offered me a seat. I couldnāt communicate. I thought about asking them the direction to my hotel, it was nearby - I couldnāt communicate that. Once I stopped crying and got myself together, I left. It took me 2 hours to find my hotel.
She says when she arrived at the hotel she could not communicate with the hotel staff and she could not text.
"It was about 7 pm when I got to my hotel - I couldnāt communicate with the receptionist so I just took a shower and tried to communicate via WhatsApp- but I could not type. The words made absolutely no sense to me. I couldnāt figure out what the letters meant and how to put them together. I managed to get a hold of someone special to me- and got them to understand that I wasnāt alright," reads her post.
She says that her agent had to send two people to her room in order to assess her situation, and once they assessed her conditions, an ambulance was called to take her to the hospital.
"23 March - Long story short - I fell asleep and in the morning my agent tried to reach me - she sent two people to my room and they figured out that I couldnāt speak. The German promoter came and called the ambulance. The paramedics couldnāt speak English and it was only when I got to the hospital that I found out that I had a stroke. Wow !!! I was shocked š³. I cried the whole day - and in the morning I accepted my situation.," she says.
In another post, she shared a video of her singing along to a song and discussed how she suffered from Aphasia in April, which affected her speech.
Lira says she is grateful for the progress she has made thus far as she has made huge progress.
"I had Aphasia - I couldnāt speak, or write or read. And I must say that I am lucky! Many people donāt come away with that!
I had to learn to speak as a child, learn how to say each letter, and form a sentence. I did so joyfully though, I had no anxiety, no stress - just peace and calm. I have made such huge progress and I gave a speech at my birthday party. š Iām almost there.
Afterwards, she thanked everyone for their prayers and good wishes. "Thank you to all of you who kept me in your prayers and kept me in your good thoughts. You let your light shine for me. In the year that Iāve needed to learn how to speak - Iāve enjoyed listening šš¾ and the silence. Iāve learned to be happier. Iāve learned to enjoy simple things. Life is a gift and I hope to celebrate the gift of life for many years," she wrote.
