Mzansi Magic wants you to watch The Throne

Come Monday, 30 July, there will be a new Ferguson Films drama on air and we've got everything you need to know about the show's characters. 

Set in a fictional BaTswana kingdom in the North West Province’s Magaliesburg region, The Throne follows the lives of the cast after mineral deposits are discovered on their land and it is used to call the reigning Queen’s legitimacy into question.

Meet the cast:

queen mosadi the throne

Queen Mosadi, played by Monnye Kunupi is a wise and fair leader who transformed her kingdom from relative obscurity to a progressive, industrious community.

kefilwe the throne

The ambitious older Kwena sister Kefilwe, played by Lerato Zah Moloi. 

mosetsana the throne

The younger Kwena sister Mosetsana, played by Tshegofatso Seakgoe seeks a life of independence and self-fulfilment.

Facebook/Tsholo Matshaba

Tsholo Matshaba, plays Odirile, the queen’s discontent younger sister.

tumelo the throne mzansi magic

The queen’s only son and her middle child, Tumelo, played by Kabelo Moalusi.

Royal family member and younger brother of the queen, Moseki, played by Don Mlangeni.

Dipue the throne mzansi magic

Keke Mphuti portrays Moseki’s daughter and the queen’s niece, Dipuo.

motsamai the throne mzansi magic

The village joker, who holds more knowledge than what first meets the eye, Motsamai, played by screen veteran Jerry Phele.

Seipati Motshwane sephiri the throne mzansi magic

Played by Seipati Motshwane, Sephiri guardian of Kweneng culture, who knows who the rightful heir to the throne is, but keeps tight-lipped for the security of the kingdom. 

The Throne, starts on Monday, 30 July at 7pm and will air Mondays - Thursdays at that same time on Mzansi Magic (DStv channel 161).
