Orlando Pirates, one of the biggest and oldest clubs in the country was founded in 1937, in Orlando Soweto. The top-tier club is based in the Houghton suburb of the city of Johannesburg and plays in the South African Premier Soccer League.

Today, Orlando Pirates and Adidas unveiled the Club’s 2020/2021 season home and away kit for the first time.

The Buccaneers, Tweeted that "ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK" and shared that within hours of being unveiled, the kit was already sold out online. Clearly, their new and bold orange colourway is a firm favourite, despite it being trolled online.

ZAlebs who are staunch Orlando Pirates fans celebrated the arrival of the kit on their Twitter accounts, Naak Musiq Tweeted together with pictures of himself celebrating the arrival of his Orlando Pirates kit.

The seasoned sports commentator, Thomas Mlambo also bragged about his new kit and being an Orlando Pirates supporter on Twitter.

Shimza, who also openly supports Orlando Pirates was gifted with his own kit by the club.

The dragging and Social Media banter began when fans and famous brands started to compare the Orlando Pirates kit to weird but strikingly similar orange objects, distinctive to South Africa. Like Chicken Licken and Fanta orange complimenting the distinct orange colourway, then Moja Chicken claiming that the came up with the colourway first.

However, Thandi Merafe, the Orlando Pirates Media Officer had this to say about the new and bold kit.
