According to Robert, Phuti Lekoloane is officially the first SA football player to publicly declare himself gay after he interviewed him on air on Wednesday night.
However, this is not the first time Phuti has revealed his sexuality in the public domain.
In a 2015 interview on www.mabalengsc.co.za, the goalkeeper expressed that he wanted to be the first openly gay goalkeeper in the country when he was asked what his future plans were.
"I want to write a book, I want to tell a story about my life. I want to play in the Premier Soccer League and be the first openly, gay goalkeeper in the PSL. That's what I want."
Since the announcement on air, Phuti has been shown nothing but support from soccer fans across the country.

Robert Marawa continued to share a Twitter video of Phuti speaking of how he used to deal with the pain of coming out as a gay football star.

In his previous interviews, Phuti mentioned that he got his Nicki Minaj nickname from the late Shoes Moshoeu who caught him twerking whilst watching a Nicki Minaj video.
We hope Phuti will continue to be a prime example of what it means to fully live your truth.
