Idols South Africa is one of the biggest platforms for upcoming musicians to showcase their talent, and while there are millions of people that compete for the title, not all make it to the finish line. Rethabile Khumalo is amongst the few that didn’t get the title but still pursued their career in music and eventually getting their big break.

We were first introduced to Winnie Khumalo’s daughter, Rethabile Khumalo when she auditioned for Idols South Africa for the first time in 2012, she later tried her luck for the second time the following year when she was just 17-years-old.  Although she may not have gotten too far within the competition, it’s evident that the songbird has grown and tirelessly been taking strides towards the beginning of her musical career.

On her 22nd birthday, Afrotainment announced that they had singed Rethabile Khumalo as one of their artists and that she is set to release her new single on the 28th of September under her new home.

"Afrotainment believes in growing the SA music industry. Since 2005 we have released countless albums and launched many artists’ careers. Some of whom now have their own record labels. Afrotainment has recently welcomed new talent which has kept the fire burning at Afrotainment. Driven by love of what we do, we continue to make South Africa and the world dance. It is with great pleasure to announce another addition to the Afrotainment family, from Soweto, Johannesburg. RETHABILE (@Rethabile.Khumalo95). Her single officially drops on the 14th of September titled NOMATHEMBA. Oh, by the way, it is Rethabile’s birthday today so Happy Birthday Afro elihle may you enjoy today. We can't wait to make beautiful music with you #Nomathemba." record label owner DJ Tira wrote on an Instagram post, announcing her as their new talent.

Afrotainment is known to be one of Mzansi's number one record label's that have consistently had their talents booked for most weekends, the label's artists are known to buy expensive cars and build their dream houses, so we have no doubt that Rethabile will be taken care of at Afro.
