Samora recently took to Twitter sharing about an encounter he had experienced the previous week from a group of young white people he had attempted to help but in response called him a “monkey” and allegedly attacked him.
“On Friday night I was the victim of a racially motivated attack. After stopping to check on a group of young white people whose car had overturned, they called my friends & I Monkeys. When we engaged them on why we were being called such, they beat me up until I was unconscious.”
The SABC presenter disclosed how he was still in disbelief over what happened to him, “these incidences always seem so far removed until they happen to you”, and how he also battled with deciding on taking the case to the police. He elaborated on how he felt like he wanted to “move on with his life” but he had to go to the police after he had heard that this was not the first time an incident similar to his had happened.
“Over the past couple of days, I have toyed with the idea of letting it go and just continuing with my life but apparently this is not the first time that this has happened to a black man in the West Rand.”
“So today, I went to the police station armed with only reg. numbers, photos and videos to open a case against my unknown attackers.”
Samora is doing better and has had a speedy recovery from the vile attack.
“I am okay now. Most of the swelling has gone down and seemingly apart from a scar on my chin, a cut on the inside of my cheek, swelling on my lips and a graze on my left temple, I'm alright.”
