Last night the cream of the crop of Jazz music made their way to Braamfontein’s illustrious new jazz club, The Orbit. Everybody in attendance was buzzing with anticipation as we waited to hear which artists will be blessing the stage at this years newly refurbished Standard Bank Joy of Jazz.
Believe it or not, this year’s event is filled with Grammy Award winners from the likes of Dianna Reeves and the legendary Billy Ocean, to vocal extrodinaire Gregory Porter and trumpeter Roy Hargrove.
We became even more excited when it was announced that multiplatinum singer, Ann Hampton Callaway would also be making her way to our shores. Guys, do you think you can fathom the greatness that will be at this event?
We cannot forget to mention our own born and bred talents such as Feya faku and his quintet: the Mike Rossi Project; Herbie Tsoaeli and Carlos Mombelli- both of whom will be performing with their quartets. Last but not least South African musical legends Sibongile Khumalo and Jonas Gwangwa are part of the line-up for this year’s star-studded Standard Bank Joy of Jazz.
We spotted a few local stars at the announcement too! Events consultant and speaker Lupi Ngcayis (Uncle Lupi) and Mr Sipho “Hotstix’ Mabuse were both in attendance. Uncle Lupi absolutely killed this tailored suit look, love it.
