Mzansi Magic's newest viewing addition Gomora is not only a hit amongst viewers but also on the award scene.

On Saturday evening the 4th Royalty Soapie Awards aired on Mzansi SABC 1 at 8 pm. The show was pre-recorded making sure that if there were any glitches or mistakes, they were fixed in time.
The awards were hosted by comedian Mpho Popps and tv and radio personality Lerato Kganyago and they delivered a worthy show, filled with lots of laughs. The hosts had three wardrobe changes.
The night had performances from award-winning singers Ami Faku and Shekhinah.
Gomora's Sicelo Buthelezi, who portrays Teddy, walked away with the Outstanding Newcomer award. Since his debut on the soapie, Sicelo has become a huge viewer favourite receiving praises from many viewers including Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi.

Gomora's Sana Mchunu, who portrays Zodwa Teddy's mother in the soapie walked away with the Outstanding Supporting Actress. A win that is well deserved considering how long she has been in the industry, yet this role has been her ultimate game-changer.
Sthembiso Khoza who recently returned to the cast of The Queen after fans requested for the character Shaka Khoza to return also won an award. The actor on the Outstanding Supporting Actor award.
The River's Presley Chweneyagae won the award for Outstanding Lead Actor for his role as Cobra, actress Dawn Thandeka King won Outstanding Lead Actress.
Multi-award-winning actress Sindi Dlathu won the award for Outstanding Female Villain, in her role as Lindiwe in The River. The actress also walked away with Outstanding Couple with her on-screen husband Zweli portrayed by Hlomla Dandala, the couple is one of Mzansi's favourite and the has many believing they are a match made in heaven.
Gomora also won the award for Outstanding Directing Team and won the public vote category, Most Popular Soapie of the Year.
Legendary filmmaker Angus Gibson won the Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the film and television industry.
In his speech, Angus reflected on the meaning of his win. βWhen I received the nomination, I was a little taken aback.
βI thought the Lifetime Achiever award, I thought that was for old people, at the end of their career. I thought thatβs why Zola calls me, βMadalaβ.
βI suppose I have to accept that Iβm on the old side of things but Iβm not accepting that Iβm at the end of my career. I think that thereβs a whole lot ahead. So, thank you so much, everybody, greatly appreciated,β said Angus.
