Reportedly, Terry Pheto and eight other people are being investigated by the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) for alleged fraud and corruption relating to funding from the National Lotteries Commission (NLC).
As reported by the City Press, Pheto and "eight other people, including two lawyers, an accountant, a hotel group CEO and a former commissioner of the NLC are being investigated by the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) in a multimillion-rand fraud scheme, which allegedly saw them obtaining properties through money fraudulently acquired from the NLC"
Twitter is most certainly abuzz as tweeps have gravely expressed their disbelief that a person like Terry Pheto would be reported in such scandals Although nothing is set in stone at this point but the damning allegation conducted by the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) are very telling as tweeps likes to believe.
"Terry Pheto being implicated in corruption is the news I never thought I’ll ever hear. Now it explains why her life has remained luxurious even without her doing much acting and film making. This country is a crime scene" wrote Zinhle PutinReportedly, with the court order the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) has managed to freeze a number of assets and businesses owned by those that have been implicated, including Terry Pheto. Allegedly, scores of luxury properties, cars and businesses have been froze to which of those belongs to Terry Pheto.
According to the City Press, "On Friday, the SIU was granted an order by the high court in Pretoria to seize nine luxury properties in Pretoria, Centurion, Hartbeespoort and Johannesburg, a BMW 420i and two Ocean Basket franchises in the East Rand worth a combined value of approximately R25 million belonging to the star and eight other people, five of whom are representatives of trust funds"
The publication continued added that in a statement issued by the Special Investigating Unit, Pheto and her eight other alleged suspects had bought properties with monies from illegal and improper grants from the National Lotteries Commissions (NLC)
"Pheto, Lesley Ramulifho, Collin Tshisimba, Promise Kharivhe, Mashundu Shanduka, Charlotte Mampane, Jim Skosana, Botshelo Moloto and Rebotile Malomane allegedly bought the seized properties with monies obtained from the NLC under the auspices of grant funding" wrote City Press
Tweeps are also reminded a few weeks ago when Pheto took to Twitter to wash her hands clean with South African. A screenshot alleged to be from a journalist making rounds of social media suggests that Terry Pheto broke down in tears in September when she was confronted about these fraud and corruption allegations.
"Many of Terry Pheto's fans are going to shattered. Investigative journalists have been at it for some time" wrote MadiBoity
This is a developing story as we still await Pheto and possible all the other eight people to respond
