From the first moment we heard her hook on Kwesta's single, we were sold. RnB's new kid on the block is one to watch out for.

She's the new kid on the block and her voice is just what South African RnB needs. Thabsie is the new era Aaliyah.

Bathabise "Thabsie" Biyela first got our attention with her smooth vocals on Kwesta's smash hit 'Ngiyaz'fela Ngawe" which gave the track a little bit of an RnB twist. Drawing inspiration from international icons such as Aaliyah and Brandy, the South African songstress is coming for that top spot.

We may have only started to notice Thabsie after her collaboration with Kwesta, but this songstress has been in the industry for a minute now. Singing back-up for other artists helped prepare her for her time in the spotlight. "I was always absorbing and taking notes," explains Thabsie.

Prior to releasing her first single titled 'Cry,' the songwriter has provided backing vocals for artists like Khuli Chana, Cassper Nyovest, Donald, ProVerb and Black Motion.

Her first single 'Cry' featuring KidX (who co-owns the label she is signed to) was written as an open letter to some who broke her heart. "I was going through emotional stress when I wrote the song, it's an open letter to the person who hurt me," she says.

The 25-year-old musician is exactly what South African RnB needs right now. What sets her music apart from everyone else's is the fact that she uses smooth vocals and heavy hip hop beats to make her music stand out while striving to bring in a new era for the genre.

Her latest single, 'African Queen' feat. JR is part of an album which she says will be released before the end of the year.

And for those who have dreams of wooing Thabsie and giving her some new material to write about, don't bother. Her husband (yes, she is married) has got that covered.
