The very talented Thobani Nzuza has been receiving messages of condolences from fans and industry mates after he announced the passing of his grandmother.
Losing loved ones is a dreadful experience and for former Uzalo actor Thobani, he is shattered. The eHostela star announced the passing of his beloved grandmother, "And today she passed away."
Thobani shared one of the best memories he has of her and it was through an interview with TimesLive, where he spoke highly of her. On the interview he opened up about how his grandmother would use his celebrity status to try and get more grandchildren.
Thobani played the popular role of Khehla on Uzalo and was a Ben 10. He said his granny made fun of his role but also used it to her advantage, “In December 2018, we were all chilling at home, there's a lot of us with my brothers and siblings, we were having a nice time when I had to leave. Then my grandmother called me, she had been examining me the whole time and when I got to her she said, 'Yah Thobani … So you don't have a child because you busy sleeping with old women neh?' because of the role I played on Uzalo, I was a Ben 10 there,” he told the publication.
Now, Thobani is playing the hardcore role of Mndeni on the Mzansi Magic drama eHostela. The violence of that show is too much, that his granny could not bring herself to watch anymore episodes. “My grandmother doesn't watch eHostela. She saw the first episode from season one where Jama was shooting people at the garage, then she completely stopped watching it saying she can't watch me killing people."
Being famous came with it's perks for the actor as his life was in danger a few months ago. The actor pleaded for help, even to Minister Nathi Mthethwa, after Senelisiwe Bhengu, the manager of Afropop musician Mnqobi Yazo, allegedly wanted him dead.
This is because Sanelisiwe allegedly claims that she made Mnqobi big, hence he owes her money and he must come and work for her again by force. Thobani has been thrust into this saga because he helped Mnqobi to escape as Sanelisiwe was threatening to kill him.
The actor alleges that he has been receiving endless death threats from the woman and these antagonising incidents have left him fearing for his life. In a couple of videos he shared on his Twitter thread, Thobani says Sanelisiwe claims to be very connected and she is not scared of anyone.
