Last week City Press made a shocking announcement that Unathi has been "forcefully" removed from the judging panel. The plot twist however is that Somizi Mhlongo has returned.

The two have dumped each other as friends and Unathi Nkayi made that known for the whole world to know. It would have been rather awkward to have the two former friends back on the show.

Taking to social media, Unathi confirmed the news and penned a lengthy note to everyone, from the viewers, to the contestants and to the Multichoice team for opening closed doors for young talent.

"You have been kind, loving and deeply invested. Truly the real energy and heartbeat of a wonderful wave of hope and dreams coming true on Idols and as you do that, you have made my dreams come true too," stated Unathi.

She thanked the contestants for allowing her to judge their singing skills for all these years, "To every contestant who stood in front of us. From the ones brave enough to share with us their hopes. I don’t take lightly the act of doing that for the world to see. An honour I will always hold. Thank you for trusting me as one of your judges. To those who unleashed a new level of my tears, heavily pregnant with Baby Idols garnering for Wooden Mic, thank you for the laughter and joy."

She mentioned the person who made that call for her to join the show, Anneke, "I can never thank you enough Anneke, for making that call asking me to join the Idols family."

Unathi is not a sore loser as she wished the new judges well in their journey-  we wonder who those might be, "To every special being who has given to the brilliance of the show. It has been a true honour being part of the family. And to the new members of our family. GOODLUCK."

Fans of Idols SA, industry mates and best friends all flooded her comments section with nothing but the sweetest words, wishing her well in her future endeavors.

Sneziey Msomi, a former Idols SA contestant shared a touching note to Unathi, "This is from the little girl who went to the show anxious and scared. That girl who was name dragged and wanted to give up but the mother in you ALWAYS revealed the brighter side of life you breathed life to my dry bones. May the Lord continue blessing you for all the good deeds, you always held it down so well SONKE we know your warm hugs. Even our families thank you.
