A night like the one experienced by this industry on Saturday is the type of night that makes all the hard work, pain and sacrifice worth it.
The 13th Annual SAFTAs took place in Sun City last night to honour all those who have contributed their talent, time, blood & sweat towards making the South African TV & Film Industry a recognisable organisation that needs to be held with the highest of regards.
The award ceremony was attended by many creatives who were proud and very emotional about finally being honoured for their talent. Although there was a lot of smiles and laughter, the award ceremony also had a lot of tearful moments, a testimony of the level of respect and love our actors, directors; producers have for their craft.
The winner's announcement started on a high note as loved actor - Warren Masemola won the first award of the night alongside actress and presenter Nomsa Buthelezi for the category Best Supporting Actor/Actress In A TV Comedy.

Best Supporting Actor In A TV Comedy - Warren Masemola

Although she was not there to receive her award, we do not doubt that Nomsa was over the moon about her win.

Then there was Abdul Khoza who walked away with Best Supporting Actor in a TV Soap for his role as Qhaphela Ngwenya on Isibaya. This is Abdul's first ever SAFTA win.

Another Isibaya actor we were proud to see walk away with the golden horn is Gcina Mkhize who plays the character of Khanyi on Isibaya.

We were also excited to see Stained Glass Productions take the award for Best TV Soap for Uzalo.
The night continued to be more exciting as many other actors and production companies continued to receive their shine.

It was most exciting also to witness Kgomotso Christopher get recognised for her role as Yvonne Langa on etv's Scandal! She won Best Actress in A TV soap.

Lorcia Cooper, sorry we mean, Lorcia Khumalo had everyone close to tears when she announced that this was her first SAFTA nomination and win in her career. What a well deserved win for Mrs. Khumalo.

Shout out to #IamSbu aka Mothusi Magano for bagging the Best Actor In A TV Drama for his role on Emoyeni.

And all hail to queen Dawn Thandeka King for her Best Actress in a TV drama win for her role as Ma-Zet on Lock Down season 2.

It continued to be an excellent night for Lock Down as Black Brain Pictures bagged their golden horn for Best TV Drama.

The same goes for the cast and crew of The River. The River walked away with eleven golden horns out of the seventeen nominations it received, what an achievement. And to think that the show is only in its second season.

Individually, many of The River's actors also received acknowledgment for their outstanding work in this telenovela.
Lawrence Maleka won Best Supporting Actor In A Telenovela for his role as Zolani on The River.

Moshidi Motshegwa was recognised for Best Actress In A Telenovela for her role as Malefu on The River.

Presley Chweneyagae received his golden horn for Best Actor In A Telenovela for his role as Cobra on The River.

The River also won Most Popular Telenovela as well.

Congratulations to all the winners who walked away with a golden horn last night, we hope you've seen that your talent does not go unrecognised.
