Congratulations to Cassper, AKA and Black Coffee for the BET Award nomination, but who will walk away the victor?

Three South African musicians have been nominated for the 2016 BET Awards.

Musical heavyweights Black Coffee, Cassper Nyovest, and AKA have all been nominated for the Best International Act: Africa category.

It’s quite a competitive nominee list if you ask us, considering that all three artists have created a body of work of great international standard.

The current debate on social media is whether Black Coffee, Cassper or AKA will be walking away with the award, oh and let’s not forget Wizkid is also nominated in the same category.

Which puts our local boys at a bit of a disadvantage, considering that the Naija boy has been owning the international stage as of late and let’s not forget that he co-produced and featured on Drake’s One Dance single.

Black Coffee will definitely win this…

But, let’s also not forget that Black Coffee is no stranger to the international stage too. The internationally acclaimed DJ has been touring the world and rubbing shoulders with the best, not only that, but the likes of Swizz Beats and P. Diddy listen and have encouraged audiences from America and across the world to listen and even buy his latest album, Pieces of Me. So he seems like the perfect candidate to win the award, right?

Nope… maybe AKA's got this…

But then there’s AKA whose quality of music has been consistently improving since he stepped onto the scene as a solo artist. He himself is no stranger to receiving recognition from the international stage, just recently Snoop Dogg was seen jamming to AKA’s single Dreamwork on his snapchat account.

In the same week, Sway Calloway played Reason’s Yippe Ki Yay featuring AKA on his radio show Sway in the Morning. In the same breath, AKA was nominated for a BET Award last year, and also won two Annual African Muzi Magazine Awards held in Texas last year.

So getting international recognition is something AKA has mastered, so by the looks of things he might be walking away with that BET Award?

Don't rule out the Maftown boy

Hold on… but then there’s Cassper Nyovest, the man has not only done well with his music but is also doing considerably well in terms of business, from property to launching his own cellphone. Cassper is the perfect candidate to win this award.

Not only that but he recently lectured at Stanford University in the USA, opening himself up to an American market he probably didn’t have great access to.

Plus, him collaborating with Black Thought from The Roots was quite an impressive joint project.

So who will it be? Let us know in the comments section below...
