Forbidden Fruit is the first single off Delazy’s next album, which she has also revealed will be called Ascension.
Announcing the release of Forbidden Fruit, the singer on Sunday evening wrote on Facebook: “New Single Drops in 8 hours on 5FM |DJ FRESH breakfast show”
She afterwards shared a photo of a possible cover for her new album, which shows her dressed in leather and sticking out a gold tongue, the word ‘Ascention’ written on an also gold hand.
“Here we are, new album, new single #ASCENSION #FORBIDDENFRUIT #28OCT2014 .. I'VE MISSED YOU X,” the singer added.
She also shared a Soundcloud link to the new song and wrote: “Listen to #FORBIDDENFRUIT now ! xx”
Toya Delazy, whose stage name is a clever play on her real name Latoya Buthelezi, broke onto the music scene with the release of her 2012 debut album, ‘Due Drops’, for which she won Best Pop Album at the South African Music Awards in 2013. She’s a pianist and the grand-daughter of Zulu Chief Mangosuthu Buthelezi.
‘Ascension’ will be Delazy’s second album.
