Being a parent is priceless, and the good thing is you don't have to give birth to a child in order to parent them.
Adoption makes it possible for women and men who are unable to have children of their own become parents. It even gives those ones who want to extend their family an opportunity to do so.
When it comes to abandoned children, adoption gives them a chance to have a home and experience the love of a parent.
Some of our favourite celebs have also been given that chance.
TV personality and rapper, Sipho “Psyfo” Ngwenya, is one of them. The star, who was born on 25 July 1982, was adopted when he was 11 years old. Psyfo hails from Kimberley in the Northern Cape.
He was adopted by June Kraus. June adopted him after his mother, who was a domestic worker passed away.
Another celebrity who was adopted is Shekhinah. The songstress, who was born on 2 October 1994 was adopted when she was just a baby.

She was adopted by a white family.
“I had so much love at home, the love that I have experienced is unreal, it's organic, it's natural. It's the reason why I love everybody. When leaving home, I was always so charged up with that love and respect that whenever I was disrespected for not speaking isiZulu or not having a good weave or not knowing what to do with my hair because my parents are white and not doing phondo's on my hair before I sleep. That used to bother me and I got upset but then I quickly moved on and by the time I was in grade 11 I had done Idols and then everybody wanted to be my friend," she said.

Charlize Theron has two children – son Jackson and daughter August. August is three years old.
The phenomenal actor says her job is to love her children.
'My job as a parent is to celebrate them and to love them and to make sure that they have everything they need in order to be what they want to be,” Charlize told Daily Mail.
The proud mother of two says she “will do everything in my power for my kids to have that right and to be protected within that.”
Actress Mampho Brescia adopted a baby girl by the name Rain after she and her husband and her struggled to have a baby.
The Isibaya star says she feels Rain came out of her.
“To me it’s as if she came out of me, it’s the same. She’s such a mini-me,” she said.

“ She’ll come into my bedroom in the morning and say, ‘Mommy, I need to do my lips’, she’s always in my shoe cupboard. She loves clothes and she loves herself. She’s so dramatic. She loves to sing and dance and she’s all about her. I know because that’s what I was like at two,” she told Gareth Cliff on CliffCentral in 2015.
The queen of Gospel, Dr Rebecca Malope, has adopted her late sister's children. Noluthando, Thandeka Malope and Zweli. She adopted them after their mother Cynthia passed away in 1996.
Although Rebecca adopted them when they were still young, the three have now all grown up. Zweli is 38, Noluthando is 30 and Thandeka 26. Rebecca’s children have given her two beautiful grandchildren.
Springbok player Siya Kolisi is a proud father of four. He adopted his siblings Liyema and Liphelo in 2014 after their mom passed away.

After their mom’s death, the siblings were taken by social services to a foster home, but Siya searched for them until he found them and legally adopted them.
“They were coming with me, I didn’t care what it took. They were going to spend Christmas with me; they were going to get the life they always deserved,” the star told Men’s Health.
The Springbok champion and his wife Rachel Kolisi have two other kids. The first one was born in 2015 - Nicholas Siyamthanda, and baby girl Keziah was born in November 2017.
