Akin Omotoso is celebrating wherever he is right now! He has every right to do so, of course. The filmmaker’s film Vaya has been acquired by Array Releasing, a company founded by American filmmaker Ava DuVernay.
The great news was shared on social media recently.
My second job: distributing films by talented directors you should know. Proud to share that we have acquired the South African drama VAYA by filmmaker Akin Omotoso. This will be @ARRAYNow’s 19th release. A warm welcome to @PunchNCream. Can’t wait for folks to see your film! xo https://t.co/39gmk03lhJ

The company has acquired distribution rights in Australia, USA, UK and a few other countries. The movie, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival back in 2016, was released in South African cinemas in 2017. Some of the stars include Warren Masemola and Zimkhitha Nyoka.
This deal will hopefully lead to greater things.
