Radio veteran and media personality Anele Zintathu Mdoda who is also arguably the most paid radio broadcaster in the country (this before Tbo Touch’s return on air) is taking a short radio hiatus from her 947 breakfast show called Anele and The Club. Her team shared to Twitter, “She is not abandoning us. She is traveling so she can sample the latest innovations in broadcasting for the benefit of the breakfast show.”

947 breakfast show host and media personality Anele Mdoda is taking a 3-month break from doing the radio show until the 1st of July 2022. Anele Mdoda will be participating in a series of dynamic Global Master-Classes in various countries over the next few weeks which is said to be beneficial to her as a broadcaster and to her show at large.

The witty presenter shared with listeners that this break from radio was similar to her maternity leave years ago, describing it as a “two-month fact-finding stint and mission” adventure which will see her tour countries including Edinburgh in Scotland.

Anele will be back in the saddle on 1 July 2022 but for now, business carries on as usual on 947. The station has shifted its talent to accommodate this change. Bubbly actress and media personality Thando Thabethe who hosts the station's drivetime slot, Thando on 947 will take over breakfast show duties on behalf of Anele alongside the whole Anele and The Breakfast Club team, Frankie, Thembekile Mrototo, and Cindy Poluta. Zweli Mkhize who hosts the station’s weekend Top 40 countdown show and the nighttime slot takes over from Thando Thabethe on the afternoon drive show, while Anathi Seyisi, who’s new to 947 will be taking care of things on Zweli’s 947 Night show until July 1st.
Anele's Future-Fit Master-Classes is said to enable her to reimagine 947's Anele and the Club breakfast show, whereby she will be exploring new and emerging broadcasting and entertainment trends plus interrogating global best practices that will invigorate the show on her return.

In support, the 947 show teams have stepped in and rearranged themselves to strike the right balance to ensure uninterrupted continuity and great radio.
We look forward to the return of a newly rejuvenated Anele Mdoda and wish our 947 teams success in their temporary and respective roles.

Many Twitter users went on to share their congratulatory messages and well wishes for Anele ahead of her hiatus. One user called Anele a doctor of radio as they wished her well. “To the Doctor of radio, Anele, you will be missed. Go do wonders [and] to be even more greater.” The user continued writing, “You’re the only crush my wife accepts because she has to listen to you every morning. Go forth and conquer.”
Others said that it will be hard adjusting to their mornings without Anele on the airwaves. “I am really happy for you but also going to miss the spice you bring and your clap backs.” One user shared, and added, “Safe travels Momma, and may you bring back such woke content for us to fly even higher on the club.”
