Anatii's 2019 just got better after he scooped a nomination at the American Soul Train Awards for his songwriting efforts.
Anatii has never had a problem defying the odds and breaking boundaries. He gained international momentum at an early age when he collaborated with DJ Khaled on a song in the early part of his career (the hit single, Bananaz); he has won the hearts and ears of South African music lovers through his albums, singles and collaborations, and he has even been acclaimed overseas after earning himself a nomination at the GSAs in the Czech Republic earlier this year.
His finest musical collaboration came when Beyonce's Lion King: The Gift came out. Anatii was credited as a songwriter on the hit single Brown Skin Girl and his work has taken him to the very top as a result of the song's charting success. And now it has been recognised on the world stage!
Over the past weekend, it was revealed that Anatii had scored himself a nomination in the Ashford and Simpson’s songwriter’s award category at the 2019 Soul Train Awards which will be taking place on the 19th of November in Las Vegas.
The news made its way to social media and was thoroughly celebrated by his fans across the interwebs:
We checked to verify, but Anatii appears to be the first South African to scoop a Soul Train award nomination in recent history and although he has yet to release an official statement, the Electronic Bushman has been soaking in the congratulatory messages on social media.
Now we'll be crossing fingers that he can walk away with the big prize but when you consider how well the song has done, you can be certain that he stands a great chance.
