Caribbean American filmmaker Meschida Philip is one of the many voices working to create awareness about the Caribbean film industry. One of the ways she does this is through her festival 12°N, 61°W Grenada Film Festival.
She’s also working with Pavillon Afriques to promote the work of the filmmakers in that region as she explains:
“Regarding Caribbean filmmakers, I am collaborating with Karine to raise awareness of their work to be screened at the Pavillon, aiming for increased Caribbean Cinema representation at Cannes.”
Apart from that, she’s also produced some films through which she has shared her journey and highlighted what’s happening in her motherland.
“Scars, I needed to get out. That was my personal story and I was in search of answers to find out if my experiences were unique to me or not.”
