At this point, we are convinced that Queen B and Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Nathi Mthethwa have a personal vendetta. Media personality at large Bonang Matheba will not let the minister rest, at least until he “find(s) a job”, according to the award-winning television presenter.
Following the first WAFCON win of South Africa’s national women’s team Banyana Banyana last night against Morocco, Minister Mthethwa took to Twitter to congratulate the ladies for this feat but Bonang did not buy into it. She quickly clapped back at Min. Mthethwa and calling him to find a job.
Mthethwa shared a tweet, “It feels good for South African football to, once again, reach the pinnacle of continental football, for the first time since 1996. Indeed, it is coming home Mzansi.” And while many celebrated this sentiment, Bonang took a quick jab at him that many also agreed with. She quoted the tweet and wrote, “Because NOTHING has been done since 1996. Imagine the nerve!! Swooping in to celebrate a VICTORY you didn’t cultivate!! Find a new job.”
Just a few days ago, Bonang was still dragging the minister:
The feud between media personality Bonang Matheba and Minister Nathi Mthethwa seems to have continued igniting on social media. This comes after when Queen B lambasted Minister Nathi Mthethwa once again over the lack of financial support for our woman's football team Banyana Banyana.Evidently, Queen B is not the one to shy away from voicing her opinions and going head to head with anyone on social media, even if it is a Minister. As she takes on Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture of South Africa Nathi Mthethwa over the lack of support for the thriving women's soccer team Banyana Banyana.
Minister Nathi Mthethwa took to social media to warmly congratulate Banyana Banyana for qualifying into the finals for the Women's Cup of Nations after defeating Zambia in the semi-finals.
"It is with a deep sense of pride that I congratulate the @Banyana_Banyana
warriors on clinching a spot in the finals of the Women’s African Cup of Nations after defeating Zambia in the semi-finals. Your victory is a historic moment for women’s football in South Africa" wrote Minister Nathi Mthethwa
Bonang Matheba did not waste any of her time as she took to social media to lambast Minister Nathi Mthethwa for the lack of financial support towards Banyana Banyana, as compared to Bafana Bafana. Lest we forget, Minister Nathi Mthethwa recently made headlines as he was reported to be fitting a budget for a R30 Million Philharmonic Orchestra fund.
Queen B put it to Minister Nathi Mthethwa as she requests for the Banyana Banyana team to be paid accordingly since Minister Nathi Mthethwa has a R30 Million budget for Orchestra fund.
"Please. These girls deserve MONEY! Open. Your. Wallet. Akere you want an orchestra?!! So damn useless!! Resign." wrote Bonang Matheba
Twitter is abuzz as tweets seems to be agreeing with what Bonang Matheba is proposing to Minister Nathi Mthethwa about Banyana Banyana. Tweeps also share the same sentiments that Banyana Banyana is of course underpaid as compared to Bafana Bafana, as well as Minister Nathi Mthethwa have other outrageous budgets to fund flags and orchestra's but pay Banyana Banyana.
"They truly deserve money. Women should be rewarded accordingly too. Let's give them what they deserve & see them being empowered" wrote Mmabatho Makotanyane
