The Johannesburg Specialised Commercial Crimes Court have shown Bonang Matheba clemency after she allegedly failed to appear in court.
According to TshisaLive, “The Johannesburg Specialised Commercialised Crimes Court has shown Bonang Matheba mercy with a warrant for her arrest being benched until October 4, after she failed to appear in court over tax fraud allegations on Thursday morning.”
Bonang was expected to appear in court but could not attend since she was in New York where she was conducting a discussion at the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday.
The court expected her to appear and answer questions pertaining to her personal and business tax revenues.
Speaking to TshisaLive, the National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson said that a warrant for Bonang Matheba had been apportioned by Magistrate Benita Oswell but was not operative unless she failed to appear again in court in October.
A couple of weeks ago, Bonang Matheba threatened to take legal action against Sunday World for writing about her reported tax woes.
