The actress came under fire after posting images of herself painted in a darker complexion and Bonnie Mbuli made it clear that she was not impressed with Pearl's latest image which then led to an extensive debate about colourism.
Various comments flooded Pearl's mentions after she posted a series of ‘blackface’ pictures of herself, and Bonnie Mbuli's comments were amongst them.
Bonnie labeled her pictures as 'distasteful' whether it was an influencer wearing the make-up or not.

Although some fans might have defended her in the initial post by saying that she was just being creative in the shoot, Bonnie quickly slammed those claims, and explained that colourism could never be "cute" after seeing that Pearl posted even more images.
Bonnie even went on to add that she had spoken to Pearl privately and reiterated the points she made on Twitter.
And amongst very harsh remarks made towards the actress, Pearl simply responded saying:
"I’ve been called so many names via being light skinned that I don’t even get touched anymore. Since I was a kid. And apparently, light-skinned blacks don’t have a right to be upset. So I keep quiet."
