Kwaito musician Sipho ‘Brickz’ Ndlovu has reportedly been released from prison on R50 000 bail.
According to Drum, the news was kept under wraps after his appearance in court on Thursday to prevent bombardment by the media.
Brickz has been behind bars since his arrest on 1 November for the alleged rape of a 17-year-old in March 2013.
He has been denied bail a few times since his incarceration, with the state’s argument that he was a flight risk and would intimidate witnesses holding sway.
The bail amount imposed is far above the figure Brickz offered to pay in previous applications. As he is supporting two children on a monthly salary of R15 000 he earns from his company, Mabrigado Production, Brickz had said he could only afford to pay R2000.
