It seems like Brickz' controversial rape case is far from over. The Kwaito artist made another appearance in the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court yesterday, but the trial was abruptly adjourned when the complainant broke down.
According to Daily Sun, the 17-year-old girl was overwhelmed by emotion when she was made to relive the terrifying incident. Although she was given time to compose herself, she couldn't control her emotions.
A prosecutor, who did not want to be named, told the paper: "She is completely broken. She has indicated that she is unhappy to proceed." The prosecutor added that the girl, who was testifying for the first time in court, might have been intimidated by the occasion.
The prosecutor reportedly asked for a postponement, which the defence lawyers did not oppose.
The paper added that Brickz' representative Dumisani Mabunda brought told the court that the longer the trial takes, the more his client would be suffering financially.
Mabunda said: "We understand that the situation is beyond our control but I would like to indicate that the accused suffers financially because each time we come to court he has to pay us."
The kwaito star was accused of sexually assualting the 17-year-old girl at his home in March 2013. The rape was only reported seven months later.
Brickz is currently out on R50 000 bail. We are awaiting information on the case's postponement and when it will be resuming.
