Cornet is probably one of the most loved characters on Skeem Saam and with him opening a library in his hometown of Limpopo, we're sure that the love he's been receiving is now ten-fold.
However, it is quite interesting to know that there was a time that Cornet thought he would never get a chance to act on Skeem Saam, which is one of the most popular youth TV drama series in the country.
Speaking to DJ Sbu on Massiv Metro, Cornet revealed that his dream to be on Skeem Saam was almost shattered after he couldn't make it to his second call-back auditions.
Cornet shared that he actually auditioned for the character - Kwaito played by Clement Maosa. After the first audition, he waited for a second callback which took a while, he then had to go work in Botswana for a theatre show he was performing in and that's where he nearly lost the Skeem Saam gig.
"After the first auditions, I waited for a callback then I had to go to Botswana for a show. When I was in Botswana I was called back to come the following day. I remember I was called on a Wednesday to come on Thursday and my show in Botswana was ending on Saturday and I was told 'no, we can't wait for you.'
For the casting director to tell me I'm not special and that they were not waiting for me I knew another opportunity had fallen through. However, my director and lecturer told me if it's my turn, they will wait, and that I should just tell them when I'm back in the country and that I would love to audition for the callbacks and I did exactly that."
Cornet got the chance to audition again and before he knew it, he was on the set of Skeem Saam.
