And the man did not mince his words when he said this. The Executive Producer of SABC 2's Muvhango spoke to Sunday World and revealed that it is highly unlikely that he would hire someone who did not study the craft.
He compared it to someone who wants to practice being a doctor but did not go to tertiary to study for it.
"..the same way that person who did not study medicine."
However, he did make an exception to actors who may have been in the industry for a long time.
"I am very unlikely to hire someone who does not have an acting diploma or degree unless it is somebody who has been in the industry for a very long time,"
Ndlovu explained that his decision is based on the acting quality he see's when comparing actors who studied the craft to those who didn't study for it.
"I feel very strong about this and I talk about it all the time. If you want to be an actor go to school and study drama, that's it. That is why there are universities. If you want to be a doctor go to medical school, a law school if you want to be a lawyer and so on."
In order to help graduates who are still climbing the acting ladder, Ndlovu hosts a number of acting workshops at the Market Theatre to assist up and coming graduates to hone their skills as actors.
