Dumi believes that the industry still has a long way to go, especially when it comes to the actors selected for the kinds of shows that they are meant to act in.
In a recent Twitter debate, entertainment commentator, Phil Mpela revealed how television blogger Thinus had been a bit too harsh with regards to his review of Lunga Shabalala, who made his acting debut on One Magic's The River.
Phil expressed that Lunga's acting was weak when The River had just started, but he has seen some improvement from Lunga ever since.
However, Dumi begged to differ as he honestly feels that Lunga and many other celebrities/actors in this industry can't act.
He said: "Remember we had a chat about how reviews are to the subjective taste of the reviewer? You had said something about being pissed off about your reviews of their shows, I think? Mine is not even a review, but the boy can't act. He's not the only one! You simply got used to him!"
Dumi went on to further share that the industry has become about people who are physically attractive and have a large number of followers on social media, whether they can act or not is no longer a factor these days, which is quite problematic.
"I've been in that position before, as a producer, where the channel has editorial powers and we end up with wannabe actors that have 100s of thousands of followers on social media but dololo acting!"
Dumi is of the view that such "actors" are just cheap labour, although he believes Lunga will improve, he stressed that acting is not just about good looks and that the craft is way more profound than what meets the eye.
