On Tuesday, I had the pleasure of attending the launch of the 2nd Annual Youth Hip Hop Festival at Durban's floating restaurant, La Vue, situated next to the Wilson's Whalf.
I heard about the festival last year but wasn't really sure what it was all about - but after reading the reviews and seeing the images online, I couldn't wait for it to come again this year.
MC of the day was the funny and talented Felix Hlope of Gagasi FM, member of the media included; Live AMP, V-Entertainment and Real Goboza - while Channel O and Gagasi FM were announced as media sponsors.
"A nation that does not concern itself with nation building is a doomed nation" said Mandla Msomi.
"We are fighting social ills by doing right. The Government of KZN cares for its youth and that is why we are excited to be part of this festival" he concluded.
Ziphelele Ndokweni of Gagasi FM, Logie Naidoo and Fanle Sibisi were also one of the speakers.
Hlubelihle Radebe, founder of Richy R concepts said:
"Last year we only expected about 3000-4000 people, but we were surprised that just over 6000 attended. We are pleased to announce that international act Rick Ross will be headlining this year’s festival" ends Mr Hlubelihle Radebe with a huge grin on his face.
To those of you who're keen to attend the 2nd Annual Youth Hip Hop Festival, it will be taking place at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on the 2nd of May and tickets go on sale on the first week of February.
