The award-winning vernacular rapper took to Twitter after making his new song with Sakhekile, called ‘Can’t Believe’ available for free download on Friday.

The song has been met with a mixed response, with many music fans unhappy with the track, which is just over two minutes long and during which iFani just says “TjoooooooWeeh, I can’t believe this sh*t” over and over.

Opinion of the song has, however, changed over the course of a few days, with many people admitting on Twitter that they didn’t like the song at first but that it grew on them, and iFani seems to be slowly but surely achieving his goal of coining a catchphrase.

iFani has also taken all the criticism in his stride and made it clear that his only goal in life is to make music that he loves.

In reference to the self-referential nature of the song and its subsequent reception, the rapper - who has a BSc degree in Computer Engineering and a BSc Honours degree in Computer Science - tweeted: “I've taken this double entendre thing to the next level. I should write a thesis about this project when I'm done. Myt get me my 3rd degree.”

Before later adding: “Engineers get paid. Do these people really think I left engineering 2 make money in music? My heart brought me here. NOT my pocket. #tjoWeeh”

The rapper also responded to a tweet by fellow-rapper Cassper Nyovest who wrote: “I just wanna be successful”.

Replied iFani, who won Best Rap Album at the 2014 South African Music Awards: “Success is getting wat u want. Happiness is wanting wat u get. Be happy,b'reiy. U made it.”
