iFani has revealed what caused his depression in 2013.
Speaking to Drum magazine, the rapper says his resentment towards his absent mother was behind his low mood.
"I neglected her because she also neglected me,” he is quoted as saying.
He says his depression lasted months, and his music kept him going.
“It was a full year of depression. I would only come to life on stage because I was feeding off the audience’s energy. But as I left the stage, I was back to my misery."

iFani has admitted in the past that his grandmother's passing in 2010 and a car accident almost sent him over the edge.
He was also hijacked at gunpoint, and in 2014 his home was robbed of more than R200,000 worth of valuables.
But iFani has not allowed these setbacks to take him back to that dark time in his life.
He continues to work hard on his music and is an inspiration to thousands of South Africans.
We are glad he has managed to keep his head held high, and is doing well in the industry.
