The Gomora actress topped the Twitter trends list last week after rumors started making the rounds on social media. After the rumors circulated, Twitter users lambasted the actress and claimed she was a homewrecker, and allegedly got pregnant Motsepe so she could live a soft life, but she is now taking legal action.
According to TshisaLIVE, they obtained legal documents stating that @MDNnewss' tweet about Katlego and Motsepe's romantic relationship was "false and defamatory".
The legal documents indicate the tweet, which received 2.2 million views, was based on gossip and insulted Danke's dignity.
"The tweet is individually and/or cumulatively, demonstrably false and/or constitute actionable defamation of our client. It is based on gossip. It is deliberately and maliciously intended to, and in any event has the effect of, insulting the dignity of our client, diminishing her professional and social standing and portrays her as a homewrecker and a person with loose or no morals," reads the letter of demand from top law firm Eric Mabuza Attorneys.
The blog has been ordered to delete the tweet and refrain from spreading any other defamatory statements, as well as to issue an apology to the actress by her legal team.
"The apology should feature prominently on the front of all your social media pages ... Failure to do the above will result in our client taking the necessary steps to protect her rights, including but not limited to approaching the high court for appropriate relief, without giving any further notice to you," it reads.
Patrice Motsepe also rubbished the allegations. Sunday World reported that the tycoon's lawyer Tim Gordon-Grant Bowmans Attorneys have de-linked him to the actress and said the allegations are defamatory and fake.
“Allegations in the media that Dr. Patrice Motsepe has children or a relationship with Ms. Katlego Danke are absolutely false and are fake news … These allegations are defamatory and expose the disseminators of these false and untrue allegations due to legal liability. We have taken note of the article in Die Son in which Ms Katlego Danke is reported to have stated and clarified that Dr Patrice Motsepe is not the father of her child,” the blog quoted the alleged lawyer.
