Ever since it was announced that Keabetswe 'KB' Motsilanyane will be replacing Kelly Khumalo in the Lebo Mathosa biopic, she received a whole lot of criticism over her character not resembling the late Lebo Mathosa.

Even though people's views were divided; with some showing support, others on the fence and most being completely against the decision, she never spoke out. Speaking to TshisaLive, the public got to hear what the actress had to say about the backlash she received of late.

"I took this role knowing that there is no person who can be Lebo Mthosa. I don't know what people have said because I try not to engage in that," She said.

She further added: "It's okay, I'm comfortable with it. Because I also know that I do not look like her, but at the same time I know that I'm a trained singer, a trained actress and trained dancer. If you think I can do it then I'll do it."

KB was criticized by many who pointed out that even though her singing might be better than Lebo's, her energy and personality do not match Lebo.

The actress also said that she is more focused on telling her story rather than trying to be her.

"We not saying approve of everything, but how you do it is important. We live in a world where we are rejected everyday. We not saying do not say No, but your attitude about it doesn't have to be personal."

The 7de Laan actress revealed that shooting began months before the announcement was made so she was too busy and focused on doing her best to portray the late musician than attending to any of the backlash.

To commemorate Lebo Mathosa's death  - it's been 13 years - Dream: The Lebo Mathosa Story was launched on Wednesday night at Kramerville in Sandton. It will premiere on BET in November.
