Kuli Roberts' appointment as the new councillor candidate for African Transformation Movement was short lived as she has been asked to step down from her duties. Kuli was running as councillor for Ward 65 in Tshwane but all that remains a pipe dream as she got dumped by the political party.

Mzwanele Manyi announced last week that they have welcomed Kuli to their team, "The one and only @kuliroberts has joined the winning team. Servant Kuli has signed up to serve the people of South Africa. Servant Kuli is ATM Councillor Candidate for Ward 65 in Tshwane. We wish her well."

But a few days later, he then made another announcement saying they can no longer have Kuli running as councillor because of confidential circumstances.

“Due to unforeseen and confidential circumstances it is no longer possible to have Nomakula Roberts as a member and ward councilor candidate of the African Transformation Movement,” the statement starts off. “Further to the above Ms. Nomakula Roberts has to step down both as the member and ward councillor candidate at the ATM.”

But that's not all...Kuli has apparently been suspended as lifestyle editor of Sunday World. This was due to her appointment at ATM which was allegedly seen as "a violation of Press Code" and "brought the company into disrepute."

Management was reportedly shocked to find out about Kuli's political moves and had to take disciplinary action. “After long and careful deliberations, the management committee unanimously took a decision to suspend Roberts with immediate effect for allegedly violating the Press Code and bringing the company into disrepute,” reads an editorial published by Wally Mbhele.

Kuli spoke briefly about her appointment when she responded to a tweep who was feeling some type of way about this.  “Well I've been at it for decades. We need to do better and there are many of us. Instead of burning the Schools, let’s extend them.

“I'm all about living in a safe area where they know how to install water meters and don't estimate electricity usage or claim to have undercharged,” tweeted Kuli.

Kuli was a guest on MacG's podcast and spoke about her albinism activism She does not want to create a hashtag because she feels it is part of her daily life not something she wants to trend. "I don't put a hashtag, it's a way of life."

"The reason I say that is so that the black man who is a homophobe can know that there women who like other women. Because as black people, we like to use tradition and culture and all sorts of excuses for weirdness.

"We need to be exposed to things and you may not agree but you need to know that these things exist. And my reason for supporting people with albinism is because I want Africans to stop killing them. And I want African languages to change what they call people with albinism. Because every single name in every single African language for person with albinism is derogatory."
