Lunathi ‘Emma’ Mampofu Takes A Break From The River

Tweeps suggest The River is on the verge of being canned and judging by the looks of things, actors are not even happy with this production.

Three leading actors have already left the Tshedza Pictures production this week, and now actor Lunthi Mampofu who plays the role of Emma is leaving the production. This is according to entertainment commentator Phil Mphela.

"With Lawrence Maleka having resigned as Zolani, Lunathi, the actress who plays Emma, will be taking a break from the show. Lunathi will be off the show temporarily while writers adjust the story to accommodate changes," reports Mphela.

The show has received a lot of criticism for boring storyline. Viewers suggest this will be the show's last season if things do not improve."Season 6 of The River should be the last. Another Twitter user wrote "The river needs to do better with storyline ya Lindiwe and Zweli's family. it can't be all the time they come back they want to steal money. they deserve better pls #TheRiver1Magic."

Others have even stopped watching the show until writers do justice. "A week ago, I chose peace and self-love and removed The River from my "Continue watching" list. Maybe November will make more sense. Will reconsider then, because wow what a joke it has become," she wrote.

Mnet released a statement yesterday announcing the departure of Hlomla Dandala who plays Zweli Dikana, Lawrence Maleka who stars as Zolani Dlamini and Ncetezo who plays Paulina Dlomo.

The show wishes them all the best in their future endeavors as they move to greener pastures.

They all brought professionalism, dedication, presence and charisma to the table, and we have loved working with them on the show. We look forward to seeing what their adventure holds,” says Shirley Adonisi, Director of Local Entertainment Channels on M-Net.
