Makhadzi is on an insane winning streak that looks like it won’t ever end, and we are all super excited for her. But as she was celebrating her latest win, she received shocking news that Lady Du was claiming the same title too. So whose title is it?
Makhadzi recently went online to share screen shots to announce that she was the most streamed female South African artist on Spotify in 2021. But as it turns out, not shortly before, Lady Du had shared similar screen shots that declared her the most streamed.
A fan pointed it out to the Zwivhuya crooner in the comments that her title was in dispute. To this, she responded that she was certainly the rightful winner, and had the screen shots to back it up. More fans came in with the receipts, and it seems that Lady Du’s sources must have been wrong, as a list of the top 10 most streamed South African artists has Makhadzi as the only lady.
However, it seems that both of the ladies are right in their assessment, as different lists have emerged. One version of the top 10 has Makhadzi and another has Lady Du, so it obviously wasn’t intentional for the Woza singer to step on Makhadzi’s toes.

Either way, Makhadzi handled it all beautifully. After gracefully checking the fan with her own photo, she wished Lady Du congratulations too. She didn’t start beef, which would have been unnecessary as they are both amazing artists, and the spotlight is big enough for two.
Makhadzi has been working extremely hard, and she deserves all the flowers. She recently had five gigs in one night. Can you imagine the dedication and hard work it takes to deliver an exemplary performance five times in a row with no time to rest? She is such a ball of energy!
The African Queen has been chasing the bag left and right. She recently returned from Botswana where her performance was so heavily anticipated that when she was a few minutes late, the crowd erupted in a mini stampede.
Makhadzi has come a long way, and has a long way to go. In fact, her shoe line, Kokovha, to be produced in collaboration with Kicks Sports SA, is set to be released on the 9th of December, and her fandom is very excited about it.
She has been showered with congratulations, which she absolutely deserves. At this point, the sky is no limit for Makhadzi, and we wish her the absolute best on this journey.
